Renovation air traffic control towers

For the renovation of the air traffic control towers in Beek (Maastricht Aachen Airport) and Eelde an ergonomic design analysis was completed.

The reason for the renovation is an organizational change from an occupation by four staff members to a concept with one air traffic controller and one approach controller, working side by side. One of the consequences was that the Approach workplaces ('radar') are being integrated on the tower.
The ergonomics design analysis focuses on a set of requirements for the layout, physical factors (legibility of screens, sound/noise, climate, etc.) and the layout of the console.
